This listing is for the original paper campaign ticket shown "c1890 Illustrated Democratic Ticket for Governor, New Hampshire - Charles Amsden."  Also featured on the Democratic Party Ticket is
    Representative Luther F. McKinney
    James Farrington
    Samuel D. Felker
    William S. Hayes
    Ichabod P. Berry
    Harry L. Avery
    Charles S. Clifford
    Dwight E. Edgerley
    Winthrop S. Meserve
    Frank P. Reeve.
Note that Charles Amsden was the Democratic candidate for governor 1888 and 1890.  Although this ticket is undated, we know that the election in 1890 was a three-way race that included a candidate of the Prohibition Party.  Hiram Tuttle, a Republican, finished first, and Charles H. Amsden finished second.  But Tuttle did not have a majority, which meant the election had to be decided by the New Hampshire Legislature.  And the Legislature chose Hiram Tuttle.
"Democratic Party Gubernatorial Campaign Ticket" measures approx. 6-7/8" by 4".  The Ballot is labeled "Democratic Ticket."  Below that is a lovely lithograph illustration, which is just full of symbolism.   It shows a shield, on which it states "Constitution and Union."  An American Bald Eagle sits atop the shield.   Behind it in the background are a farm on the left (symbolizing agriculture,)  and a train, factory, and church steeple (representing the city, and industry.) . There are 2 American Flags as well.  Plus in the foreground are a scythe and gear.  This illustration is intended to portray "inclusivism."
Excellent original early family and/or town genealogy, history, antique, collectible heirloom and/or ephemera.
