Freeman D. Dearth of Dexter, Maine, was born in Sangerville, Maine, April 16, 1861, the son of Freeman Dand Mary B. Dearth. He was graduated from Foxcroft Academy 1881, Maine Central Institute 1883, Bowdoin College, 1887. Read law and located his practice in Dexter.
Dearth served as Municipal Judge of Dexter Court and was Postmaster of Dexter; representative to the Legislature 1917-18, and State Senator 1919-20, and was recently appointed Reporter of Decisions.
Unmarried.

Freeman D. Dearth was appointed Postmaster to the Dexter office on June 5, 1900 by President McKinley. On August 1, 1905 larger quarters being necessary, the post office was moved from the Bank Block to the Dustin Pharmacy. (This building at the present time is connected to Tillson Hardware Store.) Clerks employed by Freeman Dearth during his term included Agnes Chisholm, Gertrude Dearth, Gladys Ayer, Anne Ryan, Grace Moore, Kathryn Hutchinson, Clara Brewster, Daniel Clark, Frank Haines and Glen Ayer.
