Texas Alamo 85 Year Old Mint Vintage Stamp Block from 1936

Description

A beautiful collectible block set of four U.S. postage stamps issued in 1936 to honor the brave defenders of the Alamo which had fallen to Santa Anna's army 100 years before. A month after the fall of the Alamo, Texans led by Sam Houston defeated the Mexican Army and captured Santa Anna. Santa Anna agreed to relinquish all Mexican interest in Texas and it became a republic. It is the only republic which later became a state.
The stamps feature busts of Sam Houston and Stephen Austin and a depiction of the Alamo.
These stamps have never been stolen and are as fresh as the day they were sold at the post office over 85 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a great gift for anyone interested in US or Texas history.
